Electrician Club
ACL Cables PLC the NO. 1 cable in Sri Lanka formed its electrician’s club in 2007 as an initiative to improve the skills and living standards of electricians across the island. The motive of this loyalty club is to value and recognize the amount of effort contributed by electricians to uplift industry norms and thereby create a longstanding partnership with electricians as the best sales support companion for ACL.
The club comprises a base over 8000 registered electricians and provides a range of benefits for their well-being.

Blood Donation Campaign 2019
The annual blood donation campaign of ACL Cables PLC held on 17th May for the year 2019. The event was conducted by ACL head office welfare society and the National Blood Bank, with donors from ACL Head office, factory and its subsidiaries.

SOS Children’s Village
SOS Children's Villages is supporting Sri Lankan children and adolescents by providing day care, education, vocational training opportunities and medical services. In order to help Sri Lankan children who are at the brink of losing parental care to grow up within their natural family environment, SOS Children's Villages has been running SOS Family Strengthening Programmes. Children whose families cannot take care of them can find a loving home in one of the SOS families.
Activity Summary
The head office welfare society of ACL Cables PLC organized a musical show in order to raise funds as donation for SOS children’s village Piliyandala. Profit collected was donated to the above charity activity in following schemes Annual child sponsorship schemes Purchase of stationary and primary educational equipment Donation of aesthetic accessories
Fund Raising Project
The society organized a musical show together with “Naada” the aesthetic indoor acoustic band comprising a triplet of finest singers, Sunil Edirisighe, Athma Liyanage and Umariya Singhawansha casing an era of modern and classical music.
Charity Activity
A team of ACL Cables welfare society attended the children’s village at Piliyandala on 7th April 2018 and donated their funds. Funds were donated monitory as well as in terms of goods as well (as mentioned above)
Rewards Children of Electricians for Achievements at Grade 5 Scholarship Examination
ACL Cables, Sri Lanka's no.1 cable manufacturer for the 3rd consecutive year, rewarded and recognised the achievers among the children of electricians who gained the highest marks at the recent 2018 Grade 5 Local School Scholarship Examination.
As an annual programme established in 2016, ACL Cables continues to spearhead this great cause to lend a hand to help these children achieve future success.
During the event five high achievers were recognised for their hard work and talent and awarded a comprehensive pack of school stationary. These students were chosen and recognised from applications received by electricians island-wide, registered with ACL Cables.
Commenting on the occasion Daya Wahalatantiri, Executive Director, ACL Cables PLC, said, “This reward scheme is one of the novel ideas generated during the recent past as part of assisting our partnered electricians. We see electricians as one of the most important key stakeholders in our business arena. We as ACL Cables always strive to keep our key stakeholders satisfied whilst they are partnered with us. This helps both parties to work well together towards a common goal. Moving one step further we thought of extending our support towards their families as well. Hence, we continued this rewards scheme for the children of these electricians who work hard towards achieving higher goals and we are pleased to continue this worthy cause for the 3rd consecutive year.”
The names of the recognised and rewarded students were - L.T Chamuditha (194) – Kaluthara, R.M.K.S.Sathsarani (184) – Anuradhapura, D.P. Oshani Nimeshika (183) – Homagama, Y.M.R.M. Sadeepa Gihan Rajapaksha (179) – Badulla, and W.N. Vinusha Fernando (179) – Panadura.

Giving them due recognition and rewards for their good work encourages them towards greater achievements in the future. Welfare Society Fund Raiser 2018
Once again in aid of its wellfare society ACL Cables PLC organized an indoor musical show on March 17 2018. The concert was attended by all its internal employees and general public as well. This year the society presented an evening of aesthetic indoor acoustic music with “Naada” accompanied by finest singers casting an era of modern and classical music including, Sunil Edirisinghe, Athma Liyanage and Umariya Singhawansha
Blood Donation Campaign 2016
The management initiates employees to contribute and participate in organizing events for the benefit of society such as the Blood Donation Campaigns. ACL Cables PLC head office welfare society organized a blood donation campaign in collaboration with Sri Lanka Blood Bank of Colombo General Hospital in May 2016. Majority of the participants were employees of ACL Cables Group which consists of more than 1000 workers. Staff from Head Office as well as factories located at Piliyandala and Moragahahena participated in this event. Commenting on the event, the Blood Bank of Colombo General Hospital stated that the event was a well-organized activity and of immense success, which contributed to a precious social need.
Electrician Seminars conducted around the island
We use our expertise, technology, and resources to make a positive contribution to society and get them connected with us for a long standing relationship. We work with others to build thriving communities, improve people’s lives, and support the long-term success of our business.
We encourage our employees to share their expertise and support our partnered communities through volunteering and knowledge sharing sessions. In a financial year, ACL Cables employees volunteer over 150 hours with their intellectual know-how and information sharing amongst electricians and students registered with vocational training authority (VTA). These are hours of personal visits to locations around the island. Electrician seminars are pre planned and organized as a continuous activity in the annual agenda of ACL electrician club. Total of 12 seminars (one per month) are conducted as per above schedule.
All such sessions are conducted through the initiative of ACL Electricians Club and in collaboration with respective sales force of ACL Cables.
Free eye clinic conducted for electricians
A free eye clinic session was organized by the electricians club on 29th August 2016. This was organized for electricians as well as their families. Facilities such as eye check-ups, consultation were conducted free of charge and contact lenses and glasses were provided at a discounted rate. All services were conducted by specialist eye care professionals. Electricians were given the opportunity to consult these specialists on vision therapy, diagnosis and treatment of visual systems and choose the best lenses and glasses according to their choice. A large number of electricians along with their families participated for the programme, which was conducted as a full day session.
Welfare Society Fund Raiser 2016
ACL Cables organized a mega musical show during month of August 2016, as an act of entertainment and raise funds for its member well-being. The concert was performed by “WAYO” musical group, led by veteran artist Sangeeth Wijesooriya. It was performed at Nelum Pokuna theater as a public show, inclusive of the participation of employees at ACL.
Lecture sessions at SLIIT
ACL Cables partnered with the engineering faculty of Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) during November 2015 as means to develop student capability in areas of low voltage power distribution and provide them with special industrial training programmes in its factories. During the time ACL Cables offered in-house industrial training sessions for 20 students for a period of three months and two full day lecture session for students at SLIIT. The sessions were conducted by engineering and technical personnel at factory as well as an executive director of ACL Cables PLC.
